The Town Assessor is an appointed position and is appointed every year.

OPEN BOOK

The Assessors will hold the annual Open Book meetings following the mailing of the Assessment Change Notices. The Open Book is usually held in late April or early May. The exact dates for the Open Book appointment is May 4, 2009 from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Property owners with questions or concerns should plan on attending the Open Book meetings. The Open Book session allows property owners an opportunity to discuss their assessments with the assessor in an informal setting. If a property owner is not satisfied with their assessment after meeting with the Assessor at the Open Book, they have the option to appear before the Board of Review.

BOARD OF REVIEW

The Board of Review is a quasi-judicial hearing, where written and sworn oral testimony regarding assessed valuation must be presented by the property owner and the assessor. Property owners must file an objection form with the Clerk's office prior to appearing before the Board of Review. The objection forms may be obtained either from the Assessor at Open Book or through the Clerk's office.
