RESIDENTS AND BUSINESSES MAY RECYCLE
LANDSCAPE PLASTICS AT JOHNSON’S NURSERY, INC.
(WAUKESHA, WI) –Residents and businesses are invited to drop off used plastic growing pots, plant trays, and plant containers free of charge at Johnson's Nursery Inc., W180 N6275 Marcy Road, Menomonee Falls for collection. Residents may drop off containers year-round during business hours. Those with bulk quantities, such as businesses, are required to pre-sort, palletize, and call ahead to schedule a drop-off. Visit the retail office upon arrival for direction to the drop off area.
Plastic plant containers must be free of plant debris, tags, and metals and must be sorted by plastic type. New pots will be made from the recycled donated materials. Recycling plant containers diverts them from Southeastern Wisconsin landfills, keeps contaminated plastics out of the City of Milwaukee/Waukesha County Materials Recovery Facility (MRF), and saves more than 60% of the energy it takes to make brand new products. This program provides a sustainable option for residents and businesses to close the recycling loop, a production process in which post-consumer waste is collected, recycled and used to make new products.
This program is a cooperative effort between Johnson's Nursery, Inc. and the Waukesha County Department of Parks and Land Use.
